Six Indian Players win the Mahzooz Lotto

Six Indian Players win the Mahzooz Lotto April 30th 2021 14:46

The 10th of April was a good day for six Indian lottery players as they shared the second place Mahzooz lottery prize worth one million dirhams. This means that each player takes home just under AED 166,000 (about Rs 33.5 lakh). The six players matched five out of six drawn numbers to split the second place prize of AED 1 million. This is only the 20th live draw of this new lottery, but it is already proving to be popular with players from India.

One of the players was a 69-year-old named Robert, who has lived in the UAE for 40 years. He said of his win, “This was my first time participating in the draw. A few of my colleagues play so I decided to give it a try as well. I was under quarantine so I found out I won when my colleague called. It was a great moment for me.”

Robert is married with two daughters, and with one daughter soon to marry his win could help her out. “My daughter is getting married soon so I will gift her the money. For me the money is good, but for her it will be great.” Of the six winners of the second-place prize money, five came from Kerala.

Mahzooz (which means ‘fortunate’ in Arabic) used to be called the Emirates Lotto until it changed its name back in November 2020. This quirky lottery sells tickets via its website, but also allows buyers of a bottle of El Emarat water to play one line per bottle purchased, with some of the proceeds helping out community groups.

The next draw will be this Saturday 24th with AED 50 million up for grabs!

Global Lotteries

There are great prizes to be won on the international lotteries this weekend, starting with the US Mega Millions and a colossal jackpot of $319 million, while the Powerball lottery main prize stands at $129 million. The EuroMillions jackpot will be at least €40 million this Friday and the UK Lotto could land you a sweet £4.2 million, but you have to play to win!
