Kerala State Lottery
Kerala State Lotteries offers a different draw almost every day. There's one lottery per day from Monday to Saturday, and there's also one on the last Sunday of each month. On top of that, there are four Bumper Lotteries held throughout the year to celebrate major calendar events.
The lottery programme was the first of its kind in India, and has been run by the Lottery Department of the Government of Kerala since 1967. The success of the lotto programme has inspired other states to follow the Kerala model. Draws take place in locations around the state, including the department headquarters at Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), the capital of Kerala state.
Kerala Weekly Lotteries
There are six different weekly draws in Kerala, plus one on the last Sunday of every month, and they all take place at 3:00pm. Ticket prices range from Rs. 30 to Rs. 100 and each lottery has its own prize structure. Kerala Bumper Lotteries
Four Kerala Bumper Lotteries are held at different times throughout the year, celebrating festivals and seasonal events. Ticket prices for the Bumper Lotteries range from Rs. 100 to Rs. 300 and players can win up to Rs. 12 Crore in prize money. The Bumper Lotteries and months in which the draws occur are shown below.

Christmas New Year Lottery
The Christmas New Year Bumper Lottery takes place every January, or sometimes in early February. It boasts one of the biggest lottery prizes in India, with a huge Rs. 12 crore First Prize on offer to the lucky player who matches the winning code.
Summer Bumper Lottery
Tickets for Kerala State's Summer Bumper Lottery cost Rs. 150 each, and for that you get the chance to win a First Prize worth Rs. 6 crore. The draw takes place every March and tickets are usually sold in five series – match the winning numbers, including the correct series, to win the First Prize.
Monsoon Bumper Lottery
The Monsoon Bumper Lottery is held every July and in past years has offered a First Prize worth up to Rs. 5 crore. The ticket price varies from year to year; tickets for the 2020 Monsoon Bumper were on sale for Rs. 200 each.
Pooja Bumper Lottery
The last of the year's Bumper Lotteries in Kerala is the Pooja Bumper, which takes place in late November. Like many other lotteries in the state, this one is held at Sree Chitra Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuramin and it offers a First Prize of Rs. 5 crore.

Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery
The Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery – also referred to as the Kerala Onam Bumper – used to take place every September. All of the profits from the draw were used to improve public health in the state. The last Thiruvonam Bumper took place on 20th September 2020.
Vishu Bumper Lottery
Players of the Vishu Bumper Lottery had the chance to win a First Prize worth 5 crore. Draws were held in the third week of May at Sree Chitra Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram, and hundreds of prizes were given away in every one.
Nava Kerala Lottery
The Nava Kerala Lottery was a special event that took place in October 2018 to raise funds for flood relief, after the devastating floods in Kerala earlier in the year. Tickets cost Rs. 250 each and all the profits from ticket sales went to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF).

You can purchase tickets from over 35,000 registered lottery agents and more than 100,000 retailers. The Kerala Lottery ticket rate ranges from Rs. 30 to Rs. 300 per ticket. For more information and to find your nearest agent, you should contact your district lottery office.

5. How can I claim a Kerala Lottery prize?
Prizes up to Rs. 1 Lakh can be redeemed at a District Lottery Office.
Winnings above Rs. 1 Lakh must be claimed from the office of the Director of State Lotteries, located in Thiruvananthapuram, or from a bank - details are below. You must sign your name and write your name and address on the back of the winning ticket. You will also need to provide the following documents:
- Claim application and copy of both sides of the ticket
- Two passport-sized photos of the winner, confirmed by a Gazetted Officer or Notary
- A receipt form
- A guardianship certificate, if the winner is a minor
- Joint declaration, if there is a joint claim
- Copy of the PAN card
- Identity document such as Ration Card, Driving License, Passport, or Election ID card
Prizes may also be claimed via Nationalised, Scheduled or State / District Co-Operative banks. Take the ticket and the above documents, if required, to the bank. The bank will file the claim with the Director of State Lotteries with the follwing documents:
- Letter of authorisation from the winner
- Certificate from the receiving bank
- Certificate from the collecting bank
6. How long do I have to claim a prize?
Winnings must be claimed within 30 days of the draw date and the ticket holder must provide the necessary documents, including a claim application form, two passport photographs and a receipt for the prize money. You are also advised to sign the back of your ticket and include an address to prevent others from claiming winnings on your behalf.To Top
7. Do I have to pay tax on Kerala Lottery prize winnings?
For all prize winnings exceeding Rs. 10,000, an income tax of 30% shall be deducted. Claims made by agents are also liable to income tax at a rate of 10%. For more information, you are advised to contact the lottery district office.To Top
