Lucky Indians on Mahzooz LotteryJanuary 19th 2023 14:21
It has been a great start to the year for Indian nationals on the Mahzooz (Arabic for ‘Lucky’) Lotto, held in Dubai. Just look at these results on the 111th Super Saturday draw, held on January 14th, 2023: 434 Indians won the second prize of AED 45,454 (Rs 10 lakh) each or the third place prize of AED 350 (Rs 7,000) each. Three Indian nationals were fortunate enough to win the raffle draw prize of AED 100,000 (Rs 22 lakh) each as well.
The manager of the Mahzooz competition, Farid Samji, acknowledged the dominance of Indians in the game when he said, “Indian participants make up the largest customer base for Mahzooz and last week’s draws were a reflection of this reality. 43% of last week’s winners were Indians who participated from within and outside the UAE.” The winners of the raffle draw from India were Mohamed (ticket 28169205), Sooryajith (ticket 28067027), and Santhosh (ticket 27950501).
Mohamed is a 33-year-old electrical engineer who said that he was looking forward to going home to his family in India and paying off his debts. After being informed of his win, he said it was a pleasant surprise. He now wants to carry on playing Mahzooz with the aim of winning the AED 10 million jackpot prize, so that he could start his own business.
29-year-old technician, Sooryajith explained how he wanted to use his prize fund to build his dream home back in India "I was shocked when my friend called me to tell me that I had won. I was driving with my colleagues when I received my friend's call. I pulled over, checked my Mahzooz account, and saw that the money had been credited to it. I remember screaming out in joy!"
Another raffle draw winner was Santhosh, who has lived in Oman for the past 13 years. The 39-year-old mechanic said, “I participate in Mahzooz every week because I believe that winning with Mahzooz is possibly the only way I can change my life, and this newfound fortune is going to do just that for my family and me.” He said he will now pay off his debts and buy a plot of land in India to build a home on.
What a great way to end January, by winning the Powerball jackpot prize of $473 million. After the recent phenomenal win in Maine, USA, on the Mega Millions of $1.35 billion, the top prize resets this week back to $20 million. The EuroMillions draw on Friday is worth €30 million and winning the UK Lotto would land you a sweet £7.5 million on Saturday.
